Cleaners and window cleaners get pay increases: How do you deal with this as a cleaning company?

A positive development for over 120,000 hard-working cleaners and window cleaners in the Netherlands: a substantial wage increase is on the cards to supplement the current collective bargaining agreement. This agreement stems from the need to absorb the rising cost of living for cleaners.

The previously agreed wage increases in the current CBA have been superseded by unforeseen inflation and an upcoming increase in the legal minimum wage. To keep the profession attractive, a salary well above the minimum is essential.

Gradual wage increase
The wage increase will be gradual, with a 3.5 percent increase on Nov. 1, followed by a further 3 percent increase on Jan. 1, 2024, and finally another 5.5 percent on June 30, 2024.

Rewards for experience and loyalty in the form of a “loyalty bonus” are currently being negotiated, as is the return of a weekend bonus for hotel cleaners in the collective bargaining agreement.
